"Fierce Like Lord Furter" is an episode of the television series Ōban Star-Racers.

As the second race of the finals approaches, Molly and Jordan have caught the attention of Lord Furter, a self-described pirate. The crude little alien prides himself on winning, by eliminating his opponents before the start of each race, and the Earth Team is his next target.

[edit] Plot

The flying temple and modules descend from the sky and settle into a large stone platform. Outside their module, Molly looks over the area that will be the second race, an expansive land of snaking rivers and red forests. Jordan walks up behind her and is amazed, commenting that he can't believe they are on the same planet; the previous area was an endless desert. According to Koji, Ōban is even larger than Earth's Sun, so they are bound to see a lot of new sights. Molly asks Jordan to come explore with her, but he isn't sure they should go without telling Don Wei. Molly says they don't need a 'father' to watch them and he reluctantly follows her down the stone stairs. Above, on another part of the platform, Lord Furter and his crew watch them and he remarks that they should enjoy their fun while it lasts.

Molly and Jordan reach the bottom of the stairs and walk to a small river. Molly marvels that even though they are in a different region there are just as many temples. Jordan, looking at the ruins, replies that whoever built them is long gone. Molly moves across the river, skipping over rocks, as Jordan tries to follow her, but ultimately ends up falling into the river. Molly reaches the other side and spots a large temple and goes to explore. Jordan continues to complain about the old buildings but notices that Molly has disappeared. He walks into the temple and calls for her and moves deeper inside. As he is walking some stones fall from above into the water nearby, and Jordan looks up to see what caused them to fall. In a small window above him he sees a strange looking face staring back before it disappears. Now extremely nervous, Jordan goes to look for Molly.

Molly emerges at the top of the temple into a large room. She investigates a large crumbled pillar in the middle of the room, all the while being watched by the strange-faced creature. She brushes off some dust from the pillar to reveal a large spider-like crest (Kanaletto's crest). A noise behind her draws her attention but the dark shape she sees suddenly disappears. She calls for Jordan saying his tricks are not funny, but when he doesn't respond she panics and turns to run. She runs into Jordan and comments that scaring her wasn't funny, but Jordan doesn't know what she's talking about. Hearing more strange noises, Jordan suggests that they head back to their module. As they leave they are confronted by Furter and his crew. Furter tells them to tremble in fear because he is a great pirate, but Molly and Jordan just find the tiny alien amusing. Furter's crew appears and tries to catch them; Molly says he can't do this. Furter reveals the reason he made it to Ōban was by taking out his opponents before their races. Jordan manages to hold them back with little effort but is knocked out with a large pipe.

After tying up Molly and Jordan, Furter commands his crew to throw them down a deep well so they will not be found. Molly calls Furter a monster and he thanks her for the 'compliment'. Before his crew can throw them over, however, the temple begins to shake and the ceiling cracks and begins collapsing. Furter and his crew leaves Molly and Jordan to be buried in the rubble. Molly attempts to free herself by cutting the ropes on a sharp rock. Suddenly she sees standing in front of her a huge creature with a lion-like mane and the strange face she saw before. The creature picks Molly and Jordan up in its mouth and rushes outside of the temple as it collapses. It drops them on the ground and jumps on top of the rubble and begins calling out with an eerie, resonating chant. More creatures appear and begin to chant. Jordan frees himself and Molly and tells her they shouldn't stick around, but Molly doesn't believe they will be hurt. Jordan doesn't want to take chances and they leave. As they cross the river, the creature that saved them watches in silence from the ruins.

Returning to their housing module, they collapse in exhaustion. Don Wei appears and berates them for leaving without telling him. Molly tries to tell him what happened but Don doesn't want to listen to her 'stories'; winning the Great Race is all that matters to him. The second race is about to begin and he orders them to the Arrow. Inside, Stan and Koji tell Molly that they have improved the lift boosters so she should have an easier landing. Don tells them that they desperately need points and Molly and Jordan have a small talk comparing Don Wei with Furter. After encouraging each other, the Arrow is dropped from the module and the second race begins. Molly engages the lift boosters and reaches the ground safer this time and begins flying down the river. The indicator on her computer points to the first ring and she heads that way.

As Molly nears the first ring she spots Furter's ship and rams him as she passes. In the control room, Koji's map indicates that there are five rings in the second race. Behind her, General Kross tries to pass Muir's ship causing Muir to shoot back keeping Kross and several other racers from passing him. Aikka is following closely behind Ondai and spots Molly approaching quickly. Powering up G'Dar he attempts to break away but Molly will not have any of that. While Aikka flies around an island, Molly flies through the island's forest and emerges on the other side ahead of him. Jordan gloats as they leave him behind but suddenly spots a dark shape under the water. He moves to the other side of the racer to get a better look but it disappears. He asks if Stan or Koji have detected anything but they don't know what it was.

Molly begins to gain on Ondai as they fly through another gate. Don tells Molly that this is their moment and Molly guns the engines. She is side-by-side with Ondai as they weave in and out of the rivers and temple ruins. They pass another gate and she takes the lead and begins to pull away. With only two gates left and the next one approaching Molly begins to believe that they can actually win and that she will be able to bring her mother back. As they near the next gate, Furter's ship suddenly appears behind them and begins firing on Molly. Koji doesn't believe a ship that slow could have made it through the other gates so fast, leading them to believe that Furter has ignored the gates and has come directly for Molly; it's an ambush. They exchange more gunfire before Furter uses hooks and ropes to capture the Arrow. As the ship is being held other racers fly and Molly realizes that she can't win now. Berating Furter for causing them both to loose, Furter responds that he's a pirate and that her ship is his target.

Furter's crew attempts to jump onto the Arrow but Jordan has climbed out onto the engines and fights them off with a pole. He makes a valiant effort but he is eventually overwhelmed. Just when it seems Furter has won a massive eel-like monster jumps out of the water and attempts to eat the two ships. Molly manages to pull both ships out of the way but the creature appears again in front of them. Molly pulls hard to the side and manages to separate the Arrow from Furter's ship just as it is swallowed, crew and all, by the creature. Relieved they fly on as the creature throws up Furter's ship. Molly tries desperately to catch up but the race ends and once again they have zero points.

Back in the floating temple, Satis sits by the pond with the three stone pillars and comments that it was an exciting race. As he watches Sül's pilar rises slightly while two new pillars for Ning and Skun and Ondai emerge from the water. After two races, Sül is still in the lead. The Arrow III is pulled back up into the team's module and as Molly exits the racer she sees Don Wei waiting for her. She says they had another bad day which Don agrees with. He says that they can't afford to get any further behind the other racers and need points. As Molly drops to the ground she makes a statement:

As long as we can fly we still have a chance...I refuse to believe it's the end of the world.

Don Wei suddenly has a flashback of Maya after a race, as she climbs down from her racer, and says the same thing that Molly just said. Coming back to the present, Don is visibly shaken and leaves. Later that night Jordan can't sleep and asks Molly, who is sleeping nearby, if she's awake. Seeing that she is, he tells her not to worry about Don and that everyone has bad days. Molly states that she's finally starting to realize how hard it will be to win and that she may never see her mother again. Not understanding her comments, Jordan tries to cheer her up by fantasizing about how they will be heroes when they win Ōban. However, Molly doesn't respond and just lies in bed silently.
