Fieldsboro is a Borough in Burlington County, New Jersey, United States. As of the United States 2000 Census, the borough population was 522.

Fieldsboro was incorporated as a borough by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature as Fieldsborough on March 7, 1850, within portions of Mansfield Township. It separated from Bordentown Township as an independent municipality c. 1894.[1]

Fieldsboro is located at 40°8′14″N, 74°43′45″W (40.137118, -74.729209)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²), all land.

Fieldsboro borders Bordentown Township and the Delaware River.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 522 people, 189 households, and 138 families residing in the borough. The population density was 746.5/km² (1,921.0/mi²). There were 204 housing units at an average density of 291.7/km² (750.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough was 81.61% White, 15.90% African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.38% from other races, and 1.92% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.49% of the population.

There were 189 households out of which 34.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.3% were married couples living together, 16.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.5% were non-families. 17.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.76 and the average family size was 3.17.

In the borough the population was spread out with 25.3% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 38.3% from 25 to 44, 17.2% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 88.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.0 males.

The median income for a household in the borough was $58,958, and the median income for a family was $66,607. Males had a median income of $41,932 versus $35,625 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $23,908. About 2.1% of families and 1.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 0.7% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.

[edit] Federal, state and county representation

Fieldsboro is in the Fourth Congressional District and is part of New Jersey's 30th Legislative District.[4]

New Jersey's Fourth Congressional District, covering portions of Burlington County, Mercer County, Monmouth County and Ocean County, is represented by Christopher Smith (R). New Jersey is represented in the Senate by Frank Lautenberg (D, Cliffside Park) and Bob Menendez (D, Hoboken).

The 30th legislative district of the New Jersey Legislature is represented in the State Senate by Robert Singer (R, Lakewood Township) and in the Assembly by Ronald S. Dancer (R, Jackson Township) and Joseph R. Malone (R, Bordentown). The Governor of New Jersey is Jon Corzine (D, Hoboken).

Burlington County is governed by a five-member Board of Chosen Freeholders. Burlington County's Freeholders are Freeholder Director James K. Wujcik, Deputy Freeholder Director William S. Haines, Jr., Dawn Marie Addiego, Vincent R. Farias and Aubrey A. Fenton.

Students in grades K through 12 attend the schools of the Bordentown Regional School District, which serves students from Bordentown City, Bordentown Township and Fieldsboro Borough. Schools in the district are Clara Barton Elementary School with 344 students in grades Pre-K - 6, Peter Muschal School with 723 students in Kindergarten through 6th grade, MacFarland Junior School with 318 students in grades 7 and 8, and Bordentown Regional High School with 677 students in grades 9 to 12.
