Fiame Mata'afa Faumuina Mulinu’u II

Fiame Mata'afa Faumuina Mulinu’u II, C.B.E. b.1921 - d.1975 Was the first Prime Minister of Samoa following Independence (1959-70 and 1973-75). He held the Tama Aiga tile Mata'afa, one of the four Kingly titles and was also descendant from the Malietoa family. His other titles were Fiame and Faumuina. He was elected to Parliament under his title Fiame from the electoral constituency of Lotofaga. On his death his wife Laulu Fetaui Mata'afa ran for his vacant seat and entered parliament under the title Laulu. His daughter Fiame Naomi Mata'afa now holds the Fiame title and his parliamentary seat in the Electoral Constituencey of Lotofaga. He was one of the Framers of the Constitution of Samoa.

He was honoured with a "CBE". (Commander of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) Bestowed with Mata'afa title 1948. Prime Minister: 1 Oct 1959-Feb 1970, Mar 1973 - 20 May 1975
