Edit Summary
When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

Welcome to Esperanza!
Welcome, Fetofs/Archive 1, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. Redwolf24 runs the spam to keep members up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of FireFox, Flcelloguy, Titoxd, and Karmafist. The next set of elections will be in February, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!
Cheers, Sango123 (talk) 14:48, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
- No problem! I'm glad you could join us. :) And by the way, you might want to make room for another userbox. ;) Cheers, Sango123 (talk) 14:55, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Another Esperanzial note...
Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".
The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.
Yours, as ever, Esperanzially,

Fake articles
Thanks for pointing this out, Fetofs. I hope you won't think I'm a killjoy, but I do wish you would not make any fake articles, even if they are not in the article namespace. It's easy for people to mistake them for real if they are in a hurry (I was, because it was my job to implement a consensus removing that infobox). When this happens, our credibility as an encyclopedia goes down.

mind bending
Hi, I admit it's late, but... I don't understand anything over there. Is this ongoing ? I read somewhere "Round 2 has just begun" (as of Feb.21), but following the link to the "rules page", I find "deadline fixed on Jan, 23". Currently, who, if any, is invited to do what exactly ? Re Godmode-light
Hi Fetofs. I can rollback with the script from a diffs page, but get the same "bad authentication token" error if trying to rollback from a user contribs page. Can you at least rollback from a diffs page? I am no javascript expert so I haven't figured out the problem with the contribs page problem, but there's been a bit of discussion on Sam's talk page about this. Unfortunately nobody's come up with a solution yet. Sorry if that doesn't help too much. --Cactus.man ✍ 07:36, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hi fetofs, thanks for the update. If you can get the script working from the diffs page it's still very usable. Try changing the order in which the scripts are loaded in your monobook.js. Sometimes this can solve odd conflicts between scripts. BTW, I discovered User:Haza-w/Interiot2.js from looking at your monobook script. What a great find, thanks :-) --Cactus.man ✍ 08:40, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

WP:MIND answering
Hey there. I saw you've been handed the reins of power. First of all, congrats! I was thinking of a new way of answering questions, a way in which nobody can see the others' answers. Why don't we use e-mail. That way, it can be completely secret. I know, Wikipedia is all about transparency, but many people use it to their advantage, just to squeeze out a few more points. Consider it.--May the Force be with you! Shreshth91($ |-| ŗ 3 $ |-| ţ |-|) 15:33, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
- I think that while this a good idea in principle, I don't see it as necessary at this time. It's only a bit of fun: The only people they are cheating are themselves. --Celestianpower háblame 13:38, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

I'm pleased to inform you that my caction tool v2 is now released. To update to the new version, replace the link to the old version in your monobook.js with

The reason I can't simply replace the old version is that the new one doesn't quite work for admins, and I'm still waiting for assistance before I completely roll it out.

- Howdy, and congrats on being given admin tools. I don't really have a much of plan for coaching, but I can try to answer any questions if you have them. Are there certain things you think you need coaching on? If I had to come up with any general advice, I'd say that new page patrol is a good place to spend time. There's frequently a lot of things that can be speedy deleted, categorized, redirected, or otherwise dealt with even if you're not familiar with the subject matter. It's probably good to be conservative in use of admin tools, particularly at first, but the rest of the time too. Anyway, that's a bit of starting advice for what it's worth. If you have ideas on how you want to be coached, let us know. Friday (talk) 01:22, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

Fetofs/Archive 1, thank you for supporting me in my recent RfA. Cryptography...
Hi, May I suggest that you "base64" encode the binary data in the WP:MB question ? (just say "openssl enc -base64 < binary") This would resolve problems of incompatibilities among different web browsers' and operating systems character encoding systems. — MFH:Talk 17:18, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- Well, there is only one question with binary data : your "Question four", What in the world is THAT thing? with:
- HU2çÃC®yf΃‰JzÞ$9Šæ³jú–ß;="séç/”#a½»4âZÁNH ç)ëaµ'lh¥ôÜô`2>QôßêhΊ³H’1ŠŸè:üjrAH OK;EX…õ%À=¼¶!|¤ŸGЄFaÖGô| UØ{—Ì
- When I copy-paste this, I get a file which is at least 218 bytes big. However, I believe that this is an error, and that the binary data should be only 128 bytes long, which would be equal to the 1024 bit length of the RSA key Tom put on his user page, so it can be decoded by the openssl rsautl command.
- (I don't pretend I'm right with the guess "file to decode", maybe it's a binary signature or binary format of the key or so - in fact, most probably I'm not right since the password of the previous question is not needed for the openssl rsautl command. - But in fact this does not matter.)
- I suppose the varying file size (I said "at least" since according to the "coding system" I chose in my browser it becomes even more) is due to encoding problems. . But why not add "To send this chunk of binary data by mail to his friends so they could help him, Tom uuencoded it (or MIME encoded it, or base64 encoded it...)". Thus, at least all participants of the quizz could be sure of the content of the question, irrespective of the coding system they use to display WP web pages. — MFH:Talk 23:59, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof 1.1 is Now Available For Download
Happy Easter to all of you, and I hope that this version may fix your current problems and perhaps provide you with a few useful new tools. You can download version 1.1 at User:AmiDaniel/VandalProof. Let me warn you, however, to please be extremely careful when using the new Rollback All Contributions feature, as, aside from the excessive server lag it would cause if everyone began using it at once, it could seriously aggitate several editors to have their contributions reverted. If you would like to experiment with it, though, I'd be more than happy to use my many sockpuppets to create some "vandalism" for you to revert. If you have any problems downloading, installing, or otherwise, please tell me about them at User:AmiDaniel/VP/Bugs and I will do my best to help you. Thanks.
