Festival of the Lion King
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Festival of the Lion King is a musical stage show in Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom and Hong Kong Disneyland, inspired by the 1994 animated film The Lion King. The show features four live singers, numerous acrobats, dancers, puppeteers and audio-animatronic parade-style floats of Simba, Pumbaa, a giraffe and an elephant. It bears little resemblance to the Broadway musical based on the movie.
[edit] Animal Kingdom
The show is in an enclosed theatre in Camp Minnie Mickey. Guests sit in four sections, each designated with an animal name: Warthog, Elephant, Giraffe and Lion. Guests are asked to make a noise corresponding to their animal at certain times during the show.
[edit] Hong Kong Disneyland
The show is featured in "Theater in the Wild" in Adventureland. Similar to the theatre setting in Disney's Animal Kingdom, guests sit in four different sections, each with an animal name: Warthog, Elephant, Giraffe and Lion.
The show in Hong Kong has been arranged to tell the story of The Lion King along with the songs in the movies. Althrough the songs are sung in English, both English and Cantonese are used for the lines of the storyteller to accommodate guests speaking different languages. Simplified Chinese subtitles are also projected to the screens above each seating sections.
