Festival du Nouveau Cinéma

The Festival du Nouveau Cinéma de Montréal (FNC) is devoted to the dissemination and development of emerging trends in cinema and new media. It is a forum for audiences to discover original new works, particularly in cinéma d'auteur and digital creation.
Its founders, Claude Chamberlan and Dimitri Eipides, are known for their daring and their eye for excellence. They have helped to broaden the horizons of Montreal audiences by showing them moving images of every kind. A privileged witness to the constant revolution in image and sound, the Festival made new media part of its eclectic programming in 1997. Thanks to the support and commitment of Daniel Langlois, Chairman of the Board from 1999 to 2004, the Festival has devoted particular attention to better viewing technology and to support for individual works. The FNC has used Ex-Centris as its main venue since 1999.
The Festival's strength lies above all in the quality of its programming, which has evolved in step with trends in cinema and new media. Its international renown is also a result of the exceptional quality of its state-of-the-art venues. The 33rd edition of the Festival, in 2004, once again satisfied audiences and industry professionals; its success was unprecedented, with over one hundred internationally renowned artists participating, including Peter Greenaway, Todd Solondz and Catherine Breillat. With them came over 300 works from more than forty countries, including about one hundred Canadian productions.
