Festival International de Programmes Audiovisuels
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Festival International de Programmes Audiovisuels (FIPA), founded in 1987 by Michel Mitrani (1930-1996), was first held in Cannes in October; it was moved to Nice in its eighth year (1995), and, since 1997, it has been held in Biarritz, France.
"Five days of ideal television, that is what the FIPA is. Lucid, independent and demanding glances, sensitive and revealing approaches of the current world, selected [from] . . . international production[s] over the past year. This festival, whose founders' principles are 'independence and quality,' [aims] to distinguish, develop and promote audio[-]visual works of creation, in a spirit of cooperation, in order to contribute to the evolution and the knowledge of the audio[-]visual language. It is an observatory which collects and compares the most elaborate demonstrations of the audio[-]visual language of all kinds, by a true and independent selection. The purpose of the FIPA is to encourage . . . the development [and evolution] of quality production[s] of television program[s] [throughout] the world."
NB: "La 4ème édition du FIPA n'aura pas lieu en octobre mais en janvier 1991." (The fourth edition of the FIPA would not occur in October [as in previous years] but in January 1991.)
