Teddy REVENGE!
Contents |
[edit] Teddy REVENGE!
The first game in the series started in the desert, after a spirit alerts Teddar to evil in outer space after 3 years of wandering the desert with no memory. He begins his journey in the desert, manages to get into heaven and finally reaches outer space. It was Sharkware's second game and became the flagship game of the time. the game consisted of 5 levels, each with a different background and enemy count. It had no background music, and the controls were shaky. The programming's major flaw was the feature of the 'wall jump'. Each time Teddar hit a wall, he disappeared and appeared next to the next solid object parallel with the wall.
[edit] Teddy REVENGE! Gold Edition
During the second era, Amos made a remake of the original game. This featured images for level backgrounds as opposed to colours, the wall jump was fixed and origonal background music was introduced. Also, the final level was a 640x480 view that moved with Teddar.
[edit] Teddy REVENGE! 2-Hallucinations
This once again became the flagship game after its release in the second era. Teddar lands back on earth immediately after his last adventure, and finds that earth has changed significantly. He is then cast into the Dark World and has to destroy the generator, once again placed in outer space, to make earth normal.
[edit] New characters
All the new characters were introduced in the form of bosses.
- Fine Gentleman- The first boss in the game. He appears as a single purple ball with tough armour. He is invincible, but can be avoided by hiding in the bottom of the boss when he collides with the wall, hence avoiding death. The Fine Gentleman makes himself explode at the end of the game before the final boss to reveal his true identity as being the spirit from the first game. After failing to transform into his final form, he sends Ulmatron to defeat Teddar. It seems that the Fine Gentleman created Teddar, and more about him is to be revealed in the next Teddy REVENGE! game.
- Triktok- Triktok is a squid-like creature who has no alliegance with the Fine Gentleman, but after his defeat at the hands of Teddar has harboured a deep hatred for him and hence follows him in the hope of defeating him.
- Diablos- A robotic plane. It is stationary, due to the lack of boosters in it's engines, and so acts as a weapons turret. It is awakened by the Fine Gentleman to destroy Teddar, but Teddar escapes.
- Ulmatron- The Fine Gentleman's servant, and last call of defence. He is summoned to defeat Teddar after the Fine Gentleman's transformation into his final form fails. Ulmatron fails to defeat Teddar and is destroyed as a consequence.
[edit] Teddy REVENGE! 3-Twisted Dimensions
The third game is set 2 years after the events of Hallucinations. Teddar is contemplating events of the past when his doppelganger appears proclaiming he is the true Cannibal Teddar. The two then, upon the sight of enemies, set off on a journey to solve the epidemic they face, and the plot reveals the truth about Teddar's past, as Pseudo Teddar's world is several years behind Teddar's.
[edit] Gameplay
The game featured two new gamplay features:
- 8-way directional control system- Players could move diagonally for the first time in a Sharkware maze game. This was achieved by transfering the control system from Zeta into the game, which manipulated the x and y axes by jumping relative to position, hence diagonal movement is possible if two arrow keys are held at the same time.
- Co-operative play- There are two Teddars in the game, which players must control at the same time. This means that co-operative play is available throughout the course of the story gameplay.
[edit] Characters
[edit] Teddy REVENGE! 4-Cannibal Blood
The fourth game takes place 2 months after the third. Teddar decides that he cannot keep waiting for evil to come. Armed with a pistol, he sets off into the depths of hell to search for the Fine Gentleman and destroy him.
[edit] Rumours
Little is known about the game, but some rumours have been circulating:
- The game is rumoured to be an FPS.
- The game may be made by a program other than Game Maker.
- Triktok may be a playable character.
- It will be the last in the current series, but the aftermath games will form a new series.
[edit] Facts
- Triktok will return as a boss.
- The Fine Gentleman will also return, but his role as a boss is unconfirmed.
- Betatitron will be replaced with another creature.
[edit] Zeta
The game starts off with a story. In a battle against a warring planet, Gerakios sends a horde of fighter planes, many with fundamental flaws. As the enemy approaches, the engineers are dealt capital punishment, but one, Zafaripod, who is completely innocent, flies off in his first ship, Zeta. He is pursued by the authorities. The object of the game is to destroy the authoritarian forces.
[edit] About the game
It was Sharkware's first overhead shooter game, which incorporated the engine from the highly successful 1945 game. It had one major flaw; the size of the game. The use of large mp3 music files for the game made the game so large, it took ages to download. This put many off downloading it, including Axolotl.
[edit] Zeta-Gold Edition
Since few had downloaded and played the original Zeta, Amos made a Gold Edition, similar to the Teddy REVENGE! Gold Edition. This version featured MIDI files instead of mp3 files for level music, meaning the file wa smaller, more downloadable and faster. Also, the enemies in every level had been rearranged to avoid overlapping, and the score bar was redesigned to avoid transparency in certain areas.
[edit] Zeta 2-The Horde Has Arrived
The direct sequal starts where the game before left off. Zafaripod is tired from his battle with the authorities, but regains his energy when he sees opposing forces approaching from the planet that started the war. He then fights through the forces, defeating them, and ironically saving the planet that has subjected him to capital punishment.
[edit] Zeta 3
There is no confirmed Zeta 3, but some say that it will follow a new storyline.
