[edit] Correct song title

Was just wondering whether there is any verifiable consensus on the correct rendering of the song title, specifically in regard to the presence or absence of an apostrophe before 'cross'. I've often seen it rendered with the apostrophe (as in most of this article), implying an abbreviation of 'across', though the lyric suggests that this is incorrect; the line is surely an imperative, as in "So ferry, cross the Mersey!" The only reason I can see for including the apostrophe would be if the original record label or sheet music (perhaps mistakenly) bore such punctuation? Guy Hatton 11:14, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

As a follow-up: all the record sleeves and film posters I've found so far omit the apostrophe (as I would expect), so perhaps it should also be removed from this article? I'll give it a while to see if there is any further discussion first, though. Guy Hatton 11:35, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

In the absence of any apparent objection, I'll chane the article to remove the superfluous apostrophes. Guy Hatton 09:06, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
