Does anyone know if Fernando Torres could be the grandson of the famous Manuel "Manolo" Torres who was with Real Zaragoza in the 1950ies and even played for Real Madrid temporarily??( http://antoncastro.blogia.com/2005/011502-manuel-torres-un-lateral-del-madrid-y-del-zaragoza.php )

- I think it's ok to present transfer speculation, as long as you use reliable sources. Meaning more serious net pages, like BCC, The Guardian, Teamtalk etc. NuclearFunk 22:02, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

His first photo at the top of the page is very old. He looks completely different now, with a very different hairstyle, someone needs to update that. I would but I wouldn't know where to get the picture from, without it violating copyright etc.

Ha...Good one guys. Inappropriate but it made me laugh.
Some facts...he intially started playing as a goalie but when he broke his teeth playing his mother told him to switch positions or stop playing. He was nicknamed El Niño not beacuse of his youthful face but because he started with Atletico de Madrid when he was about 16 yrs old. His grandfather played in Atletico de madrid and thats why he wanted to play on that team as well.

[edit] Transfer Speculation
There's a tonne of waffle laid down in the transfer section in this article, primarily by Manchester United fans. Most of this needs to be cut out, as it forms almost half of the article, with most of it being hearsay and unsourced. Niall123 18:16, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
The Liverpool part is inacurate there hasn't been any report recently linking him with that club unlike the Manchester United speculation which was reported in The Sun, so has been deleted and will be again unless the writer provides a link to the report.
most of the speculation is with man utd, mainly because they are very interested in torres. some is untrue but torres himself has confirmed man utd have been in contact with atletico on numerous occasions. Torres was in the summer appearntly very interested in a move to man utd and had his agent looking at houses in the machester area. however atletico spent big so he decided to give them another season to match his ambitions. however they look like they are going to go another year without a trophy (out of the copa del ray, and very ulikley to win la liga) there only hope is to get into the champions lge. with the top 4 in spain sevilla, barca, real and valencia, its gonna be very hard for them to get a champs lge spot. to fulfill his potential he will have to move. people say how good he is but he never played at the highest club level in the champs lge. for such a talented player its a real shame

IMO, the interminable number of transfer speculations to buy Torres are almost always false and they are set up by your agents to overrated him (even more). And it looks that it works very well this strategy so aggresive.
And the article about Torres is full of speculations.
