Ferring Pharmaceuticals

Ferring Pharmaceuticals is a pharmaceutical company that specializes on the development and marketing of peptides for the use in human medicine. It was founded by Frederick Paulsen in Malmö, Sweden in 1950 initially as the "Nordiska Hormon Laboratoriet", renamed "Ferring" in 1954. The first major product was the synthetic production of oxytocin and vasopressin in 1961. With further growth and expansion, the headquarters moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, and subsequently to Switzerland. In 2005, the company held over 2,700 employees with manufacturing facilities in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and China.
Products are used in endocrinology, gastroenterology, infertility, obstetrics and gynecology, and urology.
