[edit] History

The Ghostriders have played in the KIJHL since the 2004 season, but had previously operated for a decade at Junior 'A' level in a variety of leagues. They played in the NAHL for one season before their move down, but their franchise rights were sold to a Kalamazoo, Michigan based group. Previously, the franchise had played in the America West Hockey League and the now-defunct Rocky Mountain Junior Hockey League.

The Ghostriders won their division for the 2005/06 season, but failed to beat the Beaver Valley Nitehawks for the rights to play in the championship game.

In 1991 the Fernie Ghostriders were part of a group of six teams that founded the Southern Division of The Rocky Mountain Junior A Hockey League. The new league was part of the long standing Peace Cariboo League. The Ghostriders took a year of absence from the RMJHL in 1992-93 because of the mine closure. The team restarted for the 1993-94 season. RMJHL Southern Division Champions for the 1995-96 season. Changed their uniforms to the Skull Head in 1997.
