Fernando Sánchez

Fernando Sánchez (August 9, 1935 - June 28, 2006) was a Spanish fashion designer.
Born in Antwerp, Belgium, he moved to Paris at age 17 and attended the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture.
A classmate of Yves Saint Laurent, Sanchez worked as his design assistant. In 1960, inspired by the movie West Side Story, he moved to New York City fifteen days after watching it ([1]). Sanchez started his own company in 1974.
