Ferho Derwich

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ferho Derwich is one of the chairmen (along with his brother Medeni Akgül) of the Kurdish Institute Brussels in Belgium.

On March 2 2006, their parents were killed in the Turkish village Mizizah. Kurdish media reported that the elder couple had been threatened for months because of the activities of their sons. Their assassination would have been carried out by local guards and special death squadrons.

Several Belgian political parties showed a reaction of shock, like Groen!, N-VA and Spirit and demanded that Turkey offered more explanation. The event happened just days after the escape of DHKP-C member Fehriye Erdal, which had already strained Belgian relations with Turkey.
