- Hi. Unfortunately you took the image from [1] which states "All pictures used on this site are the copyrighted works of Wyatt Wolfe Unauthorized use is strictly prohibited. 2005". As such, it's hard to believe that the image was the product of the US Federal Government. The deleting admin agreed with me and deleted the image. See the deletion log for this image [2]. If you find this image actually is available under public domain, you can reupload it with the new information. --MECU≈talk 22:17, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- This line "Credit is given to the respective owners of all photographs. The picture works are copyright Wyatt Wolfe 2005" is very confusing. What does he mean by "Picture Works"? It sounds like even he doesn't own the rights to the images with "credit is given..." and yet on each image gallery page he claims all rights to the images and doesn't actually give credit, like "Photo by: John Smith". You should e-mail him and ask him why he claims ownership to the copyright of these images. Or, better yet, ask him what he is claiming ownership of? Does he have ownership/copyright of the images? Why does he say credit to...? The bit about someone taking the image during their duties as a sailor means it must be their job for the federal government to take images. It doesn't mean anyone who takes an image while employed by the government that the image is then free. For example, I was a communication technician in the Marines. I take a picture of Jim Bob in Cuba while repairing a telephone. The picture is mine and because my job for the government isn't to take pictures, it's to fix telephones. You could ask for a second opinion on this because it is a very gray area. But I believe my interpretation to be correct. I think Wikipedia is wise to stay away from using images on that website until we can get the copyright info cleared up. I hope I've helped some. --MECU≈talk 19:41, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:BH1942 main menu Amiga F4F tricolor.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:BH1942 main menu Amiga F4F tricolor.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
