Feira de Santana is a city in Bahia, Brazil. It is the second most important city in the state, with a population of 519,173 according to IBGE's estimative. It's located 115 km westwards from Salvador, Bahia's capital city. These cities are connected by BR-324, a 4-lane divided highway.
The city meets in one of the main entroncamentos of highways Northeast Brazilian, functioning as point of ticket for the traffic that comes of the South and the Center West and if dirige for Salvador and other important cities northeasterns. Thanks to the this privileged and at a distance relatively small position of Salvador, it possesss an important and diversified sector of commerce and services, beyond industries of transformation and the State University of Feira de Santana, with 21 courses, beyond six particular facultieses.
Feira de Santana she is famous also for its typical parties, as Senhora Sant'Ana, in the second fortnight of January, with bumba-meu-boi, segura-a-véia, burrinha and most popular insurance. The Micareta carnival party 15 days after Passover; the Festival of Violeiros, in September; and the Race of Jegues, in November.
