Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association (FASA) is a nonprofit association representing the interests of ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) throughout the United States. FASA represents all aspects of the industry including the physicians, nurses, administrative staff, and owners.
As a leading ASC organization, FASA represents the industry before the media, Congress, state legislatures, and regulatory bodies. FASA advocates for insurance coverage by Medicare and private payers, quality standards, and reasonable conditions of coverage.
ASCs are facilities where surgeries that do not require hospital admission are performed. Particular ASCs may perform surgeries in a variety of specialties or dedicate their services to one specialty, such as eye care.
Patients who elect to have surgery in an ASC arrive on the day of the procedure, have the surgery in an operating room, and recover under the care of the nursing staff, all without a hospital admission.
