The Federación Puertorriqueña de Fútbol is the governing body of football in Puerto Rico.
The Puerto Rico Soccer Federation was founded in 1938. Since its foundation, it has been one of the weakest teams in the world and did not even enter the qualification stage for the 2006 World Cup.
Puerto Rico has not presented a national team since 2004 when they lost against Granada 2-5. Last time PR Nat'l team won was back in 1993 with a 4-0 against Cayman Islands. Current national team position in the FIFA world ranking is 195.
Nat'l team highest FIFA ranking was 97 (March 1994) by using players from the USA, and lowest FIFA ranking was 202 (November 2004).
In the last year there has been a apparent belief in the news and commentaries by the President of FPF, that it is possible to enter a FIFA World Cup in 4 to 8 years, this is in the midst of the foundation of a team that is a member of the United Soccer Leagues First Division, the second tier of the American Soccer.
The team in hand only has 3 Puerto Rican nationals and the FPF has no support to local 1st division leagues, structured youth programs and tournaments both male and female, despite the financial aid received by FIFA through Project Goal.
