The articles listed on this page have been evaluated by the Featured Music Project and may be close to ready for being a featured article candidate. All articles listed here pass at least five out of the eight categories of the Featured Music Project's criteria.
[edit] Participants
If you'd like to help improve these articles to featured article status, you may sign up for one or more of the following categories. Signing up for a category means that you may be asked to work on improving occasional articles in that category. For example, if you sign up for "Lead", you may be periodically asked to work on improving an article's lead. You may also sign up for the "Shepherd" role, which entails putting an article through peer review and a subsequent candidacy, and making any needed changes or modifications.
You may be asked to work on any article that meets the following criteria:
- Already satisfies five out of the eight categories
- Has not been FACed or PRed for one month
- Is not currently being worked on by anyone
Of course, any article can be worked by any person at any time. This project is an attempt create a sort of featured article assembly line.
- To sign up, just place your name after one or more of these categories:
- Shepherd - Taking an article through PR and FAC, making whatever modifications are needed, may require work on any or all of these categories to meet standards
- Lead - Ensuring that the lead section is of an appropriate length, neutral and appropriately referenced
- Participants: Jkelly (happy to write two-three para summaries)
- Comprehensiveness - Making certain that all important aspects of a topic are covered; will require access to at least one scholarly work likely to give critical and historical evaluations of performers; you may specify which topics you will be able to work on
- Participants: Tuf-Kat (could do a pretty wide variety)
- Sales - Tracking down chart and other sales data, as appropriate, and citing sources
- Pictures - Mostly, supplying fair use rationales as needed, and searching for free images as much as possible
- Audio - Uploading sound samples and providing useful captions
- Participants: dharmabum (have a digital music library of around 10,000 tracks in a wide variety of genres); FuriousFreddy (if it's hip-hop or R&B/soul, I probably already have a CD to work from)
- References - Checking on-line references and providing inline citations; will require access to print books that provide a critical and historical analysis of performers; you may specify which genres or fields you will be able to do so with
- Discography - Trimming and formatting discographies, making subpages as needed
- Format/Style - General copyediting, trimming of "see also"s and external links, fixing formatting and sectionizing
[edit] 8 out of 8: Shepherding phase
These articles are probably a good choice to nominate for featured article status. However, they may still require a great deal of work to satisfy all the criteria. Most have probably been nominated or peer reviewed in the past, so it may be a good idea to look over previously-stated concerns when deciding whether or not to work on an article.
