IMDb profile

Fearless was a 2003/2004 TV pilot which was based on a series of books by Francine Pascal. It starred Rachael Leigh Cook as Gaia Moore, a woman born without the ability to feel fear. While keeping the premise of the books, it took the main character Gaia and made her older and had her working for the FBI in Los Angeles. Her looks are very different to that of the Gaia character in the book series. It was originally announced as airing on The WB after Gilmore Girls but was shelved to mid-season (being replaced by One Tree Hill) and then eventually cancelled before a single episode ever aired. Reportedly, the series had concerns about the casting of Bianca Lawson's character as well as Cook in the lead role, seeing as the producers could not portray a character without the ability to feel fear but other emotions in a manner that would have been convincing to viewers.

[edit] Trivia

  • The unaired pilot paid tribute to fellow spy-series Alias by outfitting Rachael Leigh Cook in the trademark red wig that Sydney Bristow often adorned in disguise.[citation needed]
  • Although most of the cast would go on to other projects after the cancellation of Fearless (Rachael Leigh Cook herself was considered a modestly successful film actress before even being cast in the pilot), most notably Ian Somerhalder and Eric Balfour have continued high-profile roles on television, including roles in Lost and The O.C..
