FC Semey

FC Semey are a Kazakhstani football club based in Semipalatinsk. Now considered one of the more minor clubs in the Kazakhstan Superleague, Semey were formerly a leading force and, under the name FC Yelimay Semipalatinsk, they were champions of Kazakhstan in 1994, 1995 and 1998. During their heyday Oleg Litvinenko was a leading player and his ten goals in the qualifying tournament for the 1996 Olympics for the Kazakhstan national football team saw him crowned Asian Footballer of the Year for 1995, a unique achievement for Kazakh football.
