Fay Kanin

Fay Mitchell Kanin (born May 9, 1917) is an American screenwriter who was President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from 1979 to 1983.

Born in New York City and raised in Elmira, New York, she graduated from University of Southern California with a bachelor's degree. Her first job was as a script reader at RKO.

She married Michael Kanin in 1940 and collaborated with him on many projects, notably The Outrage.

Kanin's book for Grind was nominated for Broadway's 1985 Tony Award. She and her husband received an Academy Award nomination for Teacher's Pet.
