Fawdon Metro station serves the Fawdon area of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. It is on the Green line of the Tyne and Wear Metro, and opened in 1981.
The station is located where the Metro route crosses Fawdon Lane on an automatic open level crossing, the station platforms are located on opposite sides of the road. Just behind the platform towards South Shields is Fawdon Shopping Centre.
[edit] Ticketing anomalies
Different zonal fare systems are used for Metro single tickets and inter-modal Transfare tickets, which means that for a number of journeys a Transfare may actually be cheaper than a standard Metro-only ticket.
