Father and child The cracked family crest (Japanese: 父と子　ひび割れた家紋, - Chichi to ko Hibiwareta kamon) is episode 130 of the anime series Naruto. The episode's storyline is from the Sasuke Retrieval manga arc.

The episode starts off with Naruto picking up his shuriken bag and making eight shadow clones, which Sasuke easily defeats, Sasuke grabs Naruto's wrist and punches him backward, and while Naruto is in the air, sends a huge fireball at Naruto and flashes back to his childhood.

Sasuke is getting out of bed while wondering what the sharingan that Itachi looked at him with was, stating that times have been difficult for both Itachi and their Father, after getting out of bed and passing Itachi, his Father and Itachi pass ways but don't seem to know the other is there, Sasuke says "good morning, dad", and his Father asks him about how the academy is going, which Sasuke is excited at because it shows Sasuke that he matters too, not only Itachi. Then his Father takes him to a bridge by a lake and teaches him the Great Fireball Technique, explaining that he had already taught Sasuke the seals (seals of the Tiger) and also explaining that it is a basic Uchiha ninjutsu and explains how to do it, which Sasuke is eager to try. His father gives a demo of it and makes a fireball about the size of a house. After trying his best at the jutsu, which makes a fireball the size of his head, his Father sighs, saying that he isn't like Itachi, and that it may be too early to teach Sasuke something like this, which disappoints Sasuke.

His Father walks away, and we hear an explanation that an Uchiha is seen as an adult when he can properly use and perform this jutsu, explaining that the Uchiha crest is the Fan which controls the Fire, and we see Sasuke staying out extremely late practicing this jutsu, (here he seems like Naruto, where once you get your mind set on accomplishing something, nothing can stand in your way). He practices until the sun rises and seems to have made a bit of improvement. We see him returning the next day (as he may have done many times) and begins to make much progress, where his seals are getting much faster. When he comes home his mother notices his burned mouth and his mother put some burn cream on his slightly burned mouth, and bandage them, Sasuke goes back to the lake and keeps practicing, using what his father said as "motivation" to be better.

Sasuke then tells Father that he completed the jutsu, and wants to show him saying that he "got the knack of the technique", then his Father notices his mouth, and realizes that he's been working very hard at this jutsu and goes to the lake with him. Sasuke makes an enormous fireball about the size of his father's and then looks at his father for approval, who just walks away, leaving Sasuke alone. His Father then stops, saying, "You are my son, indeed." expressing approval, "Well done. From now on, be true to the family crest on your back. Refine yourself, and fly high.", Sasuke smiles here for the first time and says yes, but his father continues saying, "Also, there's one more thing I will tell you. Don't chase after your brother anymore." Sasuke is then at dinner eating some rice and vegetables and asks his Mother what Father thinks of him and Itachi, who replies "Your brother is your brother and you are you" while Sasuke wonders if he isn't just a replacement for Itachi, talking about his Father treating them differently.

Sasuke then asks why his father is always focused on Itachi. His mother explains that their father is responsible for protecting the whole Uchiha Clan, and that since Itachi is the older brother, he bears more responsibility than Sasuke. Then she tells him that when Fugaku is alone with her, he only talks about Sasuke. Comforted and reassured, Sasuke gets back to shuriken training, he tries the kunai practice like Itachi did but misses most of the plates and hits only 2 or 3 ,determined to catch up to Itachi. While resting, he thinks about Itachi, and how he doesn’t seem like his brother anymore. When Sasuke tries to get Itachi to help with training, Itachi just blows him off, saying that he has more important things to do and flicks him on the head. This, ironically, is more typical behavior, and makes Sasuke feel better.

At dinner, Sasuke asks about the different types of Sharingan, but his father says it’s too early for him to learn it and wonders why he has such an early interest in it. Sasuke insists and Fugaku reluctantly explains about the Mangekyo Sharingan. He says that only a few people in the history of Konoha have been able to use it, and that there are special requirements. He does not explain what they are. Sasuke wonders what the requirements are and how does dad compare Sasuke and Itachi. Sasuke thinks that over, then asks about Itachi. His father says that Itachi doesn’t like interacting with other people, and that even he himself cannot understand him. His mom tells him that his lunch is ready and Sasuke runs off to the academy thinking that his Dad doesn't hate his brother.

Sasuke resumes his Academy classes, thinking about how his brother completed his training and education in record time. He is determined not to lose to Itachi.

Snapping back to the present, Sasuke is still able to dominate Naruto. Naruto is hiding behind a bush and comes out ready to fight him. Sasuke calls him a hopeless moron and yells at him to show him his real powers. He attacks Naruto in the air and punches him down beating him up and sending him plunging into the lake below the waterfall.
