Father Lonigan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Father Lonigan is a minor fictional character on NBC's daytime drama Passions. Father Lonigan has been played by Bruce French since July 1999.
Father Lonigan is a blind catholic priest in Harmony who lost his sight saving the angel girl. Father Lonigan is bound by seal of the confessional and thus is unable to speak of the various secrets he has heard from Harmony residents.
He often lectures people to believe in god and have faith that good will win over evil (which rarely seems to happen in Harmony)
In 2004, it was revealed that Alistair Crane was responsible for the fire that cost Father Lonigan his sight. No motive has been given for it.
In 2006, Father Lonigan was stabbed by Alistair during the Vendetta storyline, when he sensed an evil presence around Whitney that was trying to use her.
Simone Russell and her lesbian lover Rae recently visited Father Lonigan on Thanksgiving. Rae revealed that she attended services at St. Mary Margaret's as a child but stopped because she felt that the catholic church wouldn't welcome her because she's gay. Father Lonigan adopted the hate the sin and not the sinner approach and told her that although the bible condemns homosexuality he has no ill towards homosexuals and that they are as welcome at the church as any other sinner.
