Father Larry Duff
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Father Larry Duff is a recurring character in the Channel 4 sitcom Father Ted. He is played by Tony Guilfoyle. He is incredibly accident-prone and the various incidents that he finds himself in are an integral part of the show's humour.
Larry Duff is a priest who always seems to be on the receiving end of misfortune whenever he answers his phone. The cause of these tragic events is usually Ted who, when met with a dead line as Larry is usually unable to answer, hangs up having remembered that Larry had said he would be busy or on holiday at the time. Examples of such incidents include Larry being mauled by his rottweilers, trampled by donkeys, driving off a cliff, (Hell) careering headfirst down a rocky slope on skis, or becoming the victim of an unscheduled avalanche in the Austrian Alps. He also manages to lose £10,000 in a TV gameshow when Ted interrupts his concentration by ringing him. He invariably and mysteriously reappears unharmed in later episodes (compare Kenny McCormick).
