Fatemeh Haghighatjou

Reformist MP Fatemeh Haghighatjou, a staunch advocate of women's rights, was sentenced by Iran's Judiciary to 22 months in prison for "working against the Islamic Republic".

Fatemeh Haghighatjou, also spelled Haghighatjoo (Persian: فاطمه حقیقت‌جو) was a reformist member of the Iranian Parliament.

After a losing struggle for reform in the parliament, her resignation was accepted as the first by several members on February 23, 2004.

In 2005 Haghighatjoo was a fellow at MIT’s Center for International Relations.^[1] She is currently a fellow at Harvard University's Women and Public Policy Program.^[2]

Previously, she held professorships at Tehran University and Shahid Beheshti University. Before entering politics, she was a psychologist and head of the Student Psychological Consultant Center of Iran University of Science and Technology.

Haghighatjoo holds a Ph.D. in Counseling.^[3]
