Fat Freddy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fat Freddy Freekowtski is a character in Gilbert Shelton's underground comix. He is one of the Freak Brothers.

He is drawn as being of average height, overweight (hence the nickname), with a full head of rather long curly yellow hair, moustache and sideburns, with a two or three-day growth of beard stubble. He is usually dressed in an old T-shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes, eschewing the more extreme counterculture fashions.

Fat Freddy is by far the stupidest, or at least the most easily rooked, of the Freak Brothers, and is routinely "burned" when attempting to buy drugs. He is gluttonous, and will devour vast quantities of food in a manner characteristic of marijuana "munchies." He is lazy, and the thought of having to work fills him with horror. Of the trio, he is the most often involved in misadventures, but somehow manages to survive without major damage. Like his companions, he is an enthusiastic user of all drugs save heroin, and is far from averse to alcohol consumption.

Fat Freddy comes from a middle-class family, and at one point went back to his hometown for a visit. He had been gone so long that he and his sister did not recognize each other, with humorous results.

Freddy is the nominal owner of Fat Freddy's Cat, although the Cat would dispute that claim.
