[edit] Episode recap

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

After a trip to the supermarket, Garfield comes home with a lottery ticket. He and Jon then watch Lifestyles of the Fat and Furry (a show spotlighting the homes of rich cats). Somewhere along the course of the episode, the lottery comes on and the announcer reveals the winning number, which turns out to be on Garfield’s ticket.

Garfield wins the $10 million jackpot. Although Odie seems disinterested in the whole thing, Garfield and Jon celebrate by buying a mansion. Garfield is then spotlighted on an episode of Lifestyles of the Fat and Furry, and at one point the host interviews Jon about the rich life. Odie still seems disinterested, but Jon states how glad he is that he bought the winning lottery ticket.

Garfield informs the host that he bought the ticket. The lottery announcer then walks up and states that Garfield is too young to win the jackpot and subsequently chooses another winning number, which turns out to be on the host’s ticket. He walks away, proclaiming how thrilled he is that he can stop hosting the show.

Spoilers end here.

[edit] Notes

[edit] Trivia

  • Garfield reads his lottery ticket number as 7777779 (six 7s and one 9), but the number is actually 77777779 (seven 7s and one 9).
  • The host and the lottery announcer claim they didn’t know that Garfield bought the lottery ticket instead of Jon, but Garfield’s name was on the check.
  • When Garfield hands in the dollar at the store, Bo Sheep's face from U.S. Acres is on it instead of George Washington's.
  • Orson the Pig appears on the front of the newspaper

[edit] Quotes

Garfield: Jon gave me his wallet to buy all the food I wanted. And he’ll find that out as soon as I get home.
