Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD. But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock.
- Homophone: Abel -> able -> can
- Homophone: Cain -> kein {de} -> can't -> Kant (Immanuel Kant) (Homophone: Iman, Imam)
Cain was a (vegetarian) farmer while Abel kept and butchered animals.
- Complement: Cain killed Abel (Is this believable? Who is more likely to kill, the vegetarian or the predator?)
The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor.
- Metaphor: The predator seems to be in god's favor, because predatory behaviour easily reaps short-term rewards.
Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
- Precedent: (You get what you give [1]) Abel killed and gets killed.
- [1] an immediate-response variant of the Categorical Imperative
