Fast for Life

The Fast for Life was an international movement for nuclear disarmament which culminated in August 1983 when 13 people fasted in several cities from 6 August, anniversary of Hiroshima nuclear bombing.

These were followed by thousands people which fasted a few days, and important supporting demonstrations.

People stopped their fast after 40 days. In France, people were received by President of Republic, François Mitterrand.

The direct resultat of this movement was not very clear, but it created an important dynamisation of antinuclear movements. Many actions have used this fast as a reference, specially in France, the Walk for Life, en 1984.
