I would have to dispute the date given for the opening of the new primary school, which I attended. As I recall, this was being built at the same time as Staythorpe B Power station around 1958-9. I left the old school and moved to the new one after my third primary class year, in 1958-9, and left the primary school proper in the summer of 1961. Therefore, on this basis it must have been built before 1958.

Regarding Bernard Jackson, who was headmaster, I entirely agree with the comments made previously about him being a strict disciplinarian. He always wore a light brown checked jacket with leather elbow pads. More details would be helpful. regards Peter morrell 07:59, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
