Farhad Majidi (born June 3, 1977 in Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian football player who is a striker for Al Ahli and the Iran national football team. His younger brother Farzad Majidi, currently plays for Esteghlal FC.

[edit] Club career

Majidi's constant running and skillful dribbling attracted Rapid Vienna to recruit him for a season where he played well for his club scoring many goals. However, the asking price for a permanent transfer to Austria was not accepted by the Austrians, and they reluctantly released Majidi who was more than happy to play in Dubai for Al Wasl FC.

In this season's UAE league and in combination with his compatriot Alireza Vahedi Nikbakht, Majidi was the most lethal forward scoring a handful of goals and topping the league chart. Majidi has been unlucky with injuries and was out of action for quite a few matches.

One of the highlight of Majidi's career was his short loan to Al Ain. Majidi was the star of the AFC Champions League semi-final game against Dalian Shide. His goal allowed Al Ain to reach the AFC Champions League Final eventually winning the trophy for the first time in the club's history.

All together in the 5 years Majidi played for Al Wasl FC he scored over 100 goals.

On February 10, 2007 Majidi signed a contract until the end of the season with Al-Ahli (Dubai).

[edit] International career

Majidi is a player with immense potential who has yet to excel during his appearances for Team Melli. Until June of 2006 With the presence of the likes of Ali Daei, Farhad Majidi always had difficulty battling for a place in the starting line up. However, the skills of this nifty player and his finishing is beyond doubt and now Daei has been dropped from the national team Majidi surely will be influential in Iran's future.
