[edit] Summary
When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Paulakelley.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Paulakelley.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. [edit] Image Tagging Image:Nixzmary03.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Nixzmary03.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Abu Badali 15:13, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

- Hi I Am Marc:
I was recently married to my lovely wife; We have lived together for several years already...
- We love cats (3 currently own us)... Jeffy(15), Echo(6) & Gizmo(3). All sleep with us in the big bed and no room to move an inch.
- I was Disabled in a 1993 (Coma)/ and am very slowly recovering. It's tough going out sometimes, though with friends I still do. I have a few supportive friends.
- I am an "Unenrolled voter." Democrat/ Republicans, I don't care, whoever serves makes my life better in the long run I vote for!
- Avid reader. Has collection of many hundreds of rare books. Especially Science Fiction and Fantasy. My wife and I own about 1000 used and rare books from that Genre.
- Avid Music collector (2,500 albums)...mostly bootlegs...mostly rare bootlegs...Stones, Kinks, Clapton, Beatles. and solos!
I am what I am I'm strongly opinionated about disabled peoples' rights and jobs for American citizens who have trouble finding minimum wage jobs in my state today and support Universal health care, I would be dead if I did not have it. I am an idiot about Internet social skills. I hope that the Immigration Reform bill will protect disabled citizens who wish to work like myself first before considering allowing new people to come here. I was searching for an internet forum to be my outlet to express my needs, but found that Wikipedia is not best suited for that. I'm brushing up on Wikipedia's rules of conduct, and slowly starting to begin contributing again.
Current book and CD I own hundreds of rare books
- Current Book Jack Whyte: "Uther"
- Current CD Faves:
- Warren Zevon... "Life'll Kill Ya"
- Howlin' Wolf: "Greatest Hits"
- Latest Flick: "Charles II: The Last King"

[edit] Headline text
It's Marc, In reguards to Harry Potter:
- My wife and I listened to the entire (unabrided) book series together from our local Public Library. We have the "Minuteman Network" http://www.mln.lib.ma.us/ here and it is very well stocked with things like that. For our own personal use we made copies of them all so we can return the origials hastily.
- There are lots of other Harry Potter fans on Wikipedia like me, it seems an easy transition for someone like me who grew up reading the Lord of the Rings by Tolkien inumerable times, CS Lewis, Stephen R. Donaldson inumerable times and Philip Pullman is Dazzeling. I would most strongly recomend this short list of books to Harry Potter fans:
- Lord Fouls Bane...............Donaldson
- The Ilearth War...............Donaldson
- The Power That Preserves......Donaldson
- The Golden Compass............Pullman
- The Subtle Knife..............Pullman
- The Amber Spyglass............Pullman
- Sword of Shannra..............Terry Brooks
- Elfstones of Shannara.........Terry Brooks
- Wishsong of Shannara.........Terry Brooks
I'm just bored and surfing on Wikipedia since it's 11:00 and my wife and cats have all fallen asleep. Bye--merlinus 02:55, 27 April 2006 (UTC).

Hi! I like a lot of the stuff you do, enjoy watching "Spongebob", can tolerate the same kind of music, and am a TOTAL Harry Potter fanatic. I haven't gotten into the fan fiction, because I have too much other stuff to do and don't want to get hooked! I love the books, though. [edit] Chicken Civil Rights:
The fight for sweeping civil rights changes goes on! So far we've been winging it, but well pick up momentum. Imagine "A Day Without Chickens!" Unless the government stops this Fowl abuse PETA will stage a walk out of the nations hen houses. No eggs will be laid. No innocent lives will be sacrificed in the name of those cold blooded butchers at Colonel Sanders or Perdue. Did you know that your government condones this unabated wholesale Genocide. Your government would condone evil atrocities worst imaginable... they would eat our unborn infants and our corpses as they die rotting. American Chickens (born in the USA) are rounded up daily) and denied legal representation, trial by their peers, kept cooped up in cages and executed without being accused of a crime. Detractors of equal rights say chickens sit around getting "fried" and "baked" all the time, but obviosly its not the chickens fault. Why you may ask is it so. Just because of racial discrimination. For just 50 cents a day, you can keep a young chicken alive. They can have basic sanitation, water, electricity and a clean place to live. Your money and the money of others like you can make a difference. Join together and DEMANND EQUAL RIGHTS under the law and end this FOWL oppression. (joke: meant to offend no one in particular in politically correct times)

All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Importance). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:Triple Image. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! - CobaltBlueTony 19:53, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Musicians and ensembles
There are a lot of bands, singers and other musicians and musical ensembles with articles in the Wikipedia (see Category:Musicians).
A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, hip hop crew, DJ, musical theatre group, etc.) is notable if it meets any one of the following criteria:
- Has had a charted hit on any national music chart, in at least one large or medium-sized country.[1]
- Has had a record certified gold or higher in at least one large or medium-sized country.
- Has gone on an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one large or medium-sized country,[1] reported in notable and verifiable sources.
- Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable).
- Has been featured in multiple non-trivial published works in reliable and reputable media (excludes things like school newspapers, personal blogs, etc...).
- Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable; note that it is often most appropriate to use redirects in place of articles on side projects, early bands and such.
- Has become the most prominent representative of a notable style or the local scene of a city (or both, as in British hip hop); note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards, including verifiability.
- Has won a major music award, such as a Grammy, Juno or Mercury Music Award.
- Has won or placed in a major music competition.
- Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that page.)
- Has been placed in rotation nationally by any major radio network.
- Has been the subject of a half hour or longer broadcast on a national radio network.
Hope this helps. - CobaltBlueTony 20:17, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
I found this. No reviews, though. Also, Billboard.com has no reviews.
However, I did find this quote from that Disney page you linked to me:
- IQ has performed in Boston, New York and Hollywood to promote the release of their EP, "It's Like That", initially released on Apple iTunes in May, 2005. On New Year's Eve 2005 they performed at the Disney Jingle Jam in Boston with B5, Everlife and Jada to share a few more of their songs from their upcoming release in July 2006 by WPE Music, LLC through Treacherous Records & Bungalo/Universal.
This MIGHT be enough to get the article considered for restoration.
Keep at it. - CobaltBlueTony 19:58, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image tagging for Image:Iqgirls.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Iqgirls.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. [edit] A note about linking
Hello! I am a member of the Wikipedia project for disambiguating links. Links in music articles are big culprits of creating ambiguous links so I wanted to pass along some tips to help you with your contributions:
- Rock should be (rock music) Rock
- Metal should be (heavy metal music) Metal
- Pop should be (pop music) Pop
- Band should be (band (music)) Band
- Punk should be (punk rock) Punk
- Soul should be (soul music) Soul
- Gothic or Goth should be (goth music) Goth
- Remember this applies to music templates too!
Please contact me if you have any questions. Cheers. Dina 15:06, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Key-01.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Key-01.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Image:Racheltrachtenburg.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Racheltrachtenburg.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Chowbok 18:09, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Girlauthority.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:Girlauthority.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Thanks for uploading Image:Briannarieffel.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. - Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Jordinsparks.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Jordinsparks.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:39, 24 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- PageantUpdater • talk | contribs | esperanza 03:39, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Age category
Hello! If you are receiving this message, that means that your user page is in a specific year category. Per a recent user-category per deletion, all specific year categories are to be deleted. If you wish to continue using year categories, you have two options:
- Using an age group category, such as Category:Wikipedians in their 30s
- Using a decade category, such as Category:Wikipedians born in the 1970s.
If you wish, you may do both. Hopefully, this change in categorization will be quick and painless. Happy editing! --An automated message from MessedRobot 13:16, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Jordinsparksidol.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Jordinsparksidol.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Thanks for uploading Image:Thetruthsquad.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Fair use and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ⇒ SWATJester On Belay! 04:38, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
