It was formerly the home of the Missouri River Otters ice hockey team, the River City Rage indoor football team, the St. Louis Swarm basketball team, and the St. Louis Steamers indoor soccer team. Currently, several youth hockey organizations (such as Twin Bridges and St. Peters clubs and the Missouri Storm Junior B team) have expressed interest in playing games at the arena, as have several high school programs. There have also been rumors of pro hockey returning in the 2007-08 season with a team in the Central Hockey League, ECHL, or the return of the UHL. Also, the Rage will be back at the Family Arena in 2007, when they move from the National Indoor Football League to the United Indoor Football League.

The Family Arena also hosted Boeing Integrated Defense Systems' "Recommitment to Ethics Day" in 2005 and 2006 for the St. Louis metro area and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's Lockdown pay-per-view in 2007.
