[edit] Episode Recap
Nate and Brenda are interrogated by the police regarding the Fritzen fire since they were the last people to occupy the house. Both Nate and Brenda are questioned separately but each gives the reason why they visited the house. Nate wanted Brenda to see where he hung out when he was a kid. Brenda, on the other hand did not know why they were there. Nate and Brenda both agree that sex occurred and soon after they left. The police then ask Nate if he knows that the house was recently purchased by Kroehner. Nate says yes and that Gilardi was planning to put them out of business. The police tell Nate he is free to go and they will be in touch.
Meanwhile, a Mexican-American family whose son was murdered due to his membership in a local gang make arrangements at Fisher & Sons but clash with Paco's gang leader, Powerful. Since the Fishers cannot afford to the funeral due to their air conditioning out, he asks Federico to intervene. Federico takes offense to this since David assumes that a member of his family is involved with a gang. Federico agrees to help but immediately gets into an argument with Powerful. They both go into the Wisteria Room where Federico tells Powerful what is going to happen. Powerful agrees and the family is relieved. David still thinks that it is a bad idea to have the funeral there but Nate will have Rico take care of everything.
David continues feeling uncomfortable about his homosexuality in public. After he and Keith go grocery shopping together, they talk in the parking lot about Claire and Paco's funeral. When a man who is in a hurry for a parking spot rushes them, he drives off yelling "fucking fags". Keith then runs up to the car and defends his honor and puts the driver in his place. He then asks David if he hates himself so much that he is not willing to defend himself.
Ruth makes a special dinner and asks Nate to invite Brenda over. When Brenda arrives, Ruth asks Nate to give him a tour and Brenda is automatically convinced that Ruth hates her. The evening becomes extremely awkward when Ruth walks in on Nate performing oral sex on Brenda. Ruth drops her glass and runs up the stairs in horror. At the dinner, Claire manages to break the ice by asking Nate & Brenda if the police will interrogate her. Nate manages to sway things over the following day but Ruth immediately becomes offensive.
Nate and David then ask Ruth if she will look over this business proposition. Ruth tells them that it is no longer her business and that do not need her permission. Nate tells Ruth that she may want to be present for the meeting. In order to update the funeral home by installing computers and advertising they will need a significant amount of money on an investor's behalf. Seeing as Ruth has $93,000.00 from Nathaniel's life insurance policy, Nate and David figure she will give them a percentage of the money. Ruth happily gives them the money but insists that it is not a loan. She also asks that David join her at mass on Sundays since he has been going with Keith.
As David embalms Paco he is visited by his ghost. Paco advises David to make a decision about his life choices and to not be scared of what other people think. At the funeral, Paco's mother becomes very emotional and runs to the casket. Nate witnesses this and brings her into the Wisteria Room to calm her down. She tells Nate that she never thought that Paco would get messed up with gangs which would eventually lead to his death. Nate comforts Mrs. Bolin by telling her about how Nathaniel died. Claire then joins Paco's friend in the prep room for a cigarette where they talk about gangs. He then asks her if she wants to go out but when she gives him an attitude, he tells her not to waste his time.
At a prayer service the following day, the Bolins along with the Fishers hold hands in prayer. As Paco's friends lift up his casket, Paco walks behind and tells David to not "be a pussy". David later uses Paco's advice to scare off Matt Gilardi when he threatens to put Fisher & Sons out of business if they do not reconsider. At church, David reconciles with Keith and then go bowling the following night.
Nate finds Claire on the couch and asks her if she had any involvement with the fire. Claire laughs and denies that she set the fire. Nate tells Claire that he is only looking out for her. Claire then reminds him that he is not her father. When Nate visits Brenda the following evening, she seduces him with candles which makes him flashback to the fire. He then believes that Brenda may have had something to do with the fire.
