"Version 2"

This is a suggestion for Wikipedia:Template standardisation/article

This is my version for the standerzation process. Under these two possiblities there are 6 template categories. The goal of this version is to standerdize template locations, template colors, and the creation of template categories. The templated version for the debate is at the bottom.

Contents

[edit] Where templates belong(Choice 1)

Templates that belong on Talk Pages:

  • Any template that involves a request. Examples include:A request for wikification, expansion. Essentially anything that is not run by a community effort or is not informative to the reader.

Templates that belong on Article Pages:

  • Any template that is informative to the reader.

Definition of what is Informative to Reader: In this version something considered informative to the reader must fit under two criterias.

  1. The template must tell the reader why the article is poor or excellent.
    • Examples of this include the NPOV template, the FAC and FAC candidate templates, COTWs(include sub-COTWs).
  2. The template must be used by a awikicommunity.

Two rules which rule out the above:

  1. If the template is used by a community project and includes other info about the project.
  2. If the community is not reasonably active.(requrires user discretion.)
  3. If it falls under a suggestion instead of an action.

Templates that require a User's opinion:

  • Some templates fall under the cracks and should be used based upon user discretion.

  • Maintance Templates:These templates belong only on the top of talk pages.
  • General/Message Templates:These templates belong only on the bottom of the article page.
