"Falling to Pieces" was the second single off of Faith No More's first studio album with Mike Patton on vocals, The Real Thing. The bass driven song spawned a video in which lead singer Mike Patton portrays a series of odd characters, including one dressed like Alex from the Stanley Kubrick film A Clockwork Orange. The video is also notable for using a different recording of the song featuring more prominent background vocals.
In general this song has a possible reference to Hamlet in the sense of the narrator's indecision and how it affects his life. The song's about an addiction such as substance abuse or an unhealthy relationship that is destroying his life. He can never seem to act on what he sees as the big picture and get out of whatever mess he's in.[citation needed]
[edit] Trivia
- The song can be heard in the film Black Hawk Down.
