At the beginning of this episode, Cybertron is destroyed by a black hole, forcing the Transformers to evacuate the planet. A battle with the Decepticons ensues when Starscream arrives. Optimus Prime attacks Starscream but, realizing this is intended as a decoy tactic, returns to base while Vector Prime intervenes. Vector is damaged during the battle, but able to open a warp gate to Earth.

Landmine is able to escape to Earth through the gate. Upon his arrival on Earth, he is discovered by humans (Lori, Bud, and Coby). Coby repairs Landmine, who in turn relates the story of the Transformers to the three. He relates how Cybertron was a beautiful place until centuries of war with the Decepticons and the planet-destroyer Unicron turned it into a barren wasteland. An enormous hole was created which threatened the galaxy. The Autobots had no choice but to evacuate Cybertron. Jetfire brought data of vehicle forms so the Autobots could hide on Earth. As their forces escaped through the space bridge, suddenly the Autobot Vector Prime came out through a dimension portal. He told the Autobots that four Cyber Planet Keys, fragments of the spark of Primus, were scattered across the universe on Transformer worlds. If they could find them, the power of the keys would reawaken the ancient Transformer god and shut down the black hole.

The storytelling is interrupted when Thundercracker attacks Landmine, but Optimus arrives in time to drive him off. He relates, however, that the Decepticons have stolen the map after attacking Vector Prime. However, upon recognizing the symbol of Atlantis upon Lori's shirt, he realizes that the Omega Lock is on Earth and will lead to another map if it is found;
