"Fall to Pieces" is the fifth and final single from Avril Lavigne's sophomore album Under My Skin (the fourth single for the United States). It is the least successful song released from the album. It was produced and written by Avril Lavigne and Raine Maida. It is a slower song and is similar to "Nobody's Home". Unfortunately, the music video shot for this single was cancelled, therefore no video was shot for this single.

[edit] Chart success

Possibly due to lack of promotion, "Fall to Pieces" is Avril's least successful single to date, despite being a fan favorite. It failed to chart on the U.S. Hot 100, Australia, and Canada but fairly entered to the charts on Billboard Pop 100 charting at #55. The song peaked at #39 on American Top 40 and stayed there for 2 weeks. On the third week, it went down just one place to #40. The song wasn't released in the UK and Ireland.

[edit] Song meaning

In the song, Lavigne explains that she's just had a fight with a guy and they are at the point where the relationship could go two ways: either they make it through or end it. She is hoping that they make it through and stay together. She says in the song, "I don't want to fall to pieces..." The overall tone of the song is sad and wistful, with no resolution about the relationship ever being made.
