Faldingworth
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Faldingworth is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 253. It is on the A46 between Market Rasen and North Lincoln, and is the only 30 mph zone on this stretch of the road.
Faldingworth has a post office and village shop, All Saints church and a Methodist chapel. There is also a Primary School, village hall and a pub, the Coach and Horses.
Every year Faldingworth has a Scarecrow display, where the locals put scarecrows in their gardens, usually based upon a theme, which attracts a surprising number of visitors.
The council have recently made the Faldingworth end of Spridlington Road wider - the extension is probably the biggest rumble strip in the UK now, due to bad surfacing.
RAF Faldingworth was used by Bomber Command during World War II and although the base closed in 1972 parts of the airfield are still there.
