Falconer is a village in Chautauqua County, New York, USA. The population was 2,540 at the 2000 census.
The Village of Falconer is within the Town of Ellicott. Falconer is on the eastern edge of the City of Jamestown, New York.

The town was originally called Worksburg, presumably after Edward Work, who purchased the land from the Holland Land Company in August, 1807. The first Falconer to own the land was Robert Falconer, who bought it from Edward Work in 1836. His son, Patrick, later consolidated his land holdings in the future Falconer, New York. The village was later named after William T. Falconer (1850-1915), or his father, Patrick. The town's name was changed to Falconer in 1874. Patrick Falconer, who was on the Board of Directors of the Allegheny & Pittsburg Railroad, donated a large tract of the land through town to the railroad concern. This resulted in the railroad line being routed through the middle of town.[1].
The Village of Falconer was incorporated in 1891.
John Cheever selected the village as the location for the fictional Falconer State Prison in his novel Falconer.

Falconer is located at (42.118908, -79.200207)GR1.
The Chadakoin River flows from Jamestown and passes through the village, meeting with Conewango Creek at Levant.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.8 km² (1.1 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 2,540 people, 1,109 households, and 698 families residing in the village. The population density was 908.1/km² (2,346.7/mi²). There were 1,216 housing units at an average density of 434.7/km² (1,123.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.83% White, 0.55% African American, 0.51% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.12% from other races, and 0.71% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.14% of the population.
There were 1,109 households out of which 29.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.5% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.0% were non-families. 31.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.29 and the average family size was 2.88.
In the village the population was spread out with 24.0% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 27.0% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 20.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 92.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.1 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $32,222, and the median income for a family was $41,711. Males had a median income of $34,961 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the village was $15,205. About 6.2% of families and 10.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 13.1% of those under age 18 and 12.9% of those age 65 or over.

In 2006, The Falconer Golden Falcons High School Football team obtained a record of 6-2 losing only two non-league games. Falconer continued into the playoffs and took on JFK High School in Falconer at Bill Race Field. Falconer rolled to a 21-0 shutout win over JFK and would, four days later, take on Silver Creek High School.
During the week leading up to the battle between the two teams in Ralph Wilson Stadium, in an interview a Silver Creek athlete stated that Falconer "should not be in the stadium". Falconer arrived in the stadium, the underdogs, and would end up winning the battle 7-8.
Falconer's victory came in the 4th quarter when quarterback Isaac Gatewood threw an eighteen yard touchdown pass to tight end Darren Oakes with 41 seconds left on the clock. When Falconer and Silver Creek Lined up for the extra point, there was an offsides call against Silver Creek that placed Falconer at the one yard line. Falconer Coach Dan Krenzer opted to go for the two point conversion. The conversion was successful and Falconer fans were wild. After the touchdown, linebacker Austin Spicer booted the ball deep into Silver Creek territory. Silver Creek attempted to make the comeback and score at least one more point, but fell short.
Falconer players ran to the opposite sideline and were congradulated by the loyal Falconer fans. After the celebration, Falconer was awarded the Western New York Section VI, Class C title and are the champions of 2006.
After defeating Silver Creek, the Golden Falcons went back to the Ralph to take on LeRoy, where they wound up winning the game 13-12 after being down 12-0 in the first half. An emotional Adam Ericsson gave an speech that the players will never forget, as they rallied to take the lead to win the game.
Next they traveled to Rochester to play the Westmoreland Bulldogs where the Falcons won, aided by the beginings of the Falcon Frenzy. The final score of that game was 20-6 Falconer, led by William Giambelluca, the cornerback of the Golden Falcons
The Falconer Golden Falcons then went on to the Class C State Championship in Syracuse, NY at the Carrier Dome, home of the Syracuse University Orangemen. The team ended up losing 24-0 to Dobbs-Ferry.
