[edit] Historical connection to other military projects/systems?

FAFB was also the support base for several other military programs - for example, the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program's Site 1 (FAIR) was located at the former NIKE command site F07-C, and served also as the Fairchild Satellite Operations Center for several satellite programs besides DMSP, for example GPS. Plus I think that the NIKE sites were situated not only to protect Spokane but the Air Base as well, since the base was there before the NIKE program was instituted.
