Fairytale (song)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Fairytale" is a 1974 single released by the Pointer Sisters. Written by sisters Anita and Bonnie and produced by David Rubinson, it became a landmark recording for the group when they released it off their That's a Plenty album. The song peaked at number thirteen on the pop singles chart and also hit the top forty of the country singles chart peaking at number thirty-seven on the chart. The success of the song gave the Pointers the rare distinction of being the first black vocal group to perform at the Grand Ole Opry with the crowd not knowing that the group was black. The song made more history for the group as they were nominated for two Grammy Awards including a nomination for Song of the Year and a win for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group which helped to make the Pointers the first all-female vocal group to win a Grammy Award. The song was later covered famously by Elvis Presley in 1975.
