Fairmeadow School

Fairmeadow Elementary School is located in Palo Alto, California, United States. It is one of the 12 elementary schools in the Palo Alto Unified School District. 366 students (2006-2007 school year) attend Kindergarten through 5th grade and then usually go on to Jane Lathrop Stanford Middle School and then Gunn High School. The campus includes the nationally recognized Jackson Hearing Center. The schools motto is "Learning is a Team Sport." Fairmeadow's mascot is the Firebird. As of 2006, the school principal is Dr. Judith Barranti.
In October 2006, the school was among 300 chosen by the California Business for Education Excellence Foundation for its 2006 Honor Roll, for "consistent student achievement and progress toward closing the achievement gap."[1]
[edit] Jackson Hearing Center
Jackson Hearing Center serves hearing-impaired children in the Bay Area with an auditory / aural program. Students in the program include those from preschool through high school, with hearing losses ranging from mild to profound. The Jackson Hearing Center has been awarded the Alexander Graham Bell Association Centennial Award as an outstanding auditory/oral program. The school has actively participated in research studies aimed at improving instruction to the hearing impaired and in using the results of this research in instruction.[2]
