Fairfield is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in the suburb of Fairfield, on the Hurstbridge railway line. It is in Metcard Zone 1.

Fairfield is classed as a Host Station.

The station is located at the western end of the Station Street level crossing. Shops are located near the station.

[edit] Facilities

The station consists of two side platforms. Platform 1 contains a large weatherboard building while platform 2 contains a small weatherboard building. A large Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 1, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A small Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 2. A footbridge is located at the UP end of the station, whilst a disused signal box is also located at the DOWN end of the station.

Both platforms can be accessed via Station Street.

Fairfield station opened on Tuesday, 8 May 1888 as Fairfield Park. It was later renamed to Fairfield in 1943. Fairfield was the former junction station for the Outer Circle railway line and the disused APM paper mill siding, which is located at the DOWN end of the station.
