Fadime Sahindal
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fadime Sahindal was a Kurdish Muslim immigrant to Sweden. Sahindal was brought up in Sweden from the age of six. She was murdered by her father in January 2002 in an "honor killing."
Sahindal was opposed to her family's insistence on an arranged marriage, and instead selected her own boyfriend, a Swedish man named Patrick Lindesjos. When her father and brother threatened to kill the couple, they filed a lawsuit and won. The next month, in June of 1998, they were scheduled to move in together when Patrick died in a car accident.
In January of 2002, Fadime was visiting her sister in Uppsala when her father arrived and shot her in the head. Confronted by police, he readily confessed and called his dead daughter a whore.
