F (grade)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The grade of F is commonly used in school letter grading systems, and can signify that one is failing, or has failed.

In the United States, the grade F is usually part of a 5-point grading system of A, B, C, D, and F. In this case, F is the lowest grade, usually a score below 60%. Some schools do not give 'F' grades, because they are seen as a mark of failure. A D would imply a score within 60% and 69%, a C within 70% and 79%, etc.

In United Kingdom secondary schools, the letter F is not be the lowest score achievable, as grade G and U are lower. Grade F would be achieved for a score between 15 and 35%.
