F.C. Risden are an English association football club, who play at Harlow Stadium. They were formed in 2006 after breaking away from Risden Wood FC for whom they played on Saturdays and were the Sunday Reserve team For the 2006-07 season they had been expected to play at in the Essex Senior League, a Step 5 league in the National League System. However, Risden's ground, which also features a dog track, did not meet the specifications for the ESL as it was too narrow, so they will continue to play in the Bishop's Stortford, Stansted and District Football League for the coming season. Interest in playing for the club was so vast that they formed reserve teams for both of these sides as well as creating 2 new Youth teams at under 10 and under 15 level.
A lottery grant was secured and this went on kitting up the 6 teams as they prepared for the new season and they turned the centre of the Greyhound Track into a half decent football pitch.
The Saturday 1st team side started reasonably well under the guidance of Nick Clark as they looked to emulate their first season in Saturday football when they won the Premier Division as well as making 2 cup finals although the reserves struggled early on under Steve Wheeler who quit around October time due to work commitments and James Turner took the reigns. The Sunday 1st team however were struggling as the lost many of the players that had served them well and the step up into the Premier Division was proving to be a hard challenge the reserves however under Dean Perrrett were doing well however lack of dicipline in the reserve team led to big problems for the club as they incurred fine after fine. In one match they had an incredible 4 players sent off. 1st team manager Nick Clark then stepped down to concentrate on the Saturday team and Dean Perrett took over as first team manager and the reserve team was folded.
As the club entered 2007 it was thrown into further turmoil, the Sunday side eventually gave up in a battle with the local Harlow and District football league and pulled there Sunday team out of the competition as the club had received fines totalling nearly £2k from various sources. The debt was paid and the club was folded. On Saturdays manager Nick Clark left to manage Essex Senior League side Stansted taking players with him forcing the club to fold its rejuvenated reserve team with James Turner stepping into the 1st team position. With just 2 defeats on the board and still in two cup competitions they still have everything to play for.
The youth set up is going well and although their are no plans for any development on the adult front FC Risden expect to double the ammount of youth teams in their set up next year.
