Ezra Fitch
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ezra H. Fitch (1866–June 16, 1930) was founder and co-owner of Abercrombie & Fitch Co. in the early 1900s.
Fitch was born in New York (possibly in Coxsackie, New York), the son of Roswell R. and Helen (Carswell) Fitch. Much of his life is not known, although he did leave his law practice in Kingston, New York to join Abercrombie in his wilderness outfitting store in 1900. In 1907, Fitch bought out Abercrombie. Later, Ezra retired from the store to spend the rest of his years in what he loved, nature and the wilderness.
[edit] Clothing Line
Abercrombie & Fitch, Inc. produced a highly priced, premium line of clothing sold in Abercrombie & Fitch stores named after Fitch. The Ezra Fitch line included leather jackets, skirts, cashmere sweaters, denim jackets and jeans. More recently, the company has since discontinued the line because it did not make a large impact on the customers as well as they hoped[citation needed]. Abercrombie & Fitch stores still carry a limited collection of Ezra Fitch clothing, such as woven shirts, denim jackets jeans.
